Speculative Guidebook + Parallel Catalogue

Stripping the meaning of “publication” to its etymological roots of “issuing forth” or “the act of making public”, 3-ply has framed the Biennial bookstore as a site for performative publication and discursive agency. Conversational exchange amongst mobilized visitors and observers (framed as simultaneously readers and authors) mutates into a series of performances and texts that accumulate to offer alternatives to the conventional Biennial publications, in the form of a speculative guidebook and parallel catalogue. The Biennial bookstore is presented by 3-ply with Yekatarinburg bookshop Йозеф Кнехт.

In exhibition settings, 3-ply operates as a shifting collaborative. For the 3rd Ural Industrial Biennial, 3-ply is Lisa Radford, Liang Luscombe and Fayen d’Evie.
